Alchemy Pay Focused on Hong Kong
Leading fiat-crypto on and off ramp provider, Alchemy Pay, set out its plan to become one of the first major entities to receive Hong Kong’s new crypto license at the state’s Web3 Festival. The firm’s spokesperson, Robert McCracken, took to the stage to demonstrate the importance of fiat-crypto gateway payments for creating a highly accessible Web3 industry as Hong Kong plans to become one of the world’s major hubs for blockchain development. Alchemy Pay was at the centre of the festival with a booth, numerous co-hosted evening events and large scale billboard advertising campaign across Hong Kong.
The inaugural Web3 Festival, hosted by Wanxiang Blockchain Labs and HashKey Group and supported by the Hong Kong government, was the largest crypto-focused conference Hong Kong has ever hosted. The four-day event saw over 10,000 attendees, 300 distinguished speakers, VCs and senior finance and fintech executives from around the world congregate to network, share, and learn through high-level content and panel discussions. Speakers included Binance CEO, Changpeng Zhao, Dr. Xiao Feng, Chairman of Wanxiang Labs, and multiple Hong Kong government officials.
Prior to Alchemy Pay’s presentation, the Hong Kong Financial Secretary, Paul Chan, gave a rousing speech extolling the possibilities for crypto industry development. “The premise of Web3 development is that the stability of the financial system and investor protection should not be damaged,” Chan said. “I believe that everybody has learned from recent events that appropriate regulations are a must to create a sustainable development environment and a more ideal space for development.”
Alchemy Pay in Pole Position for Hong Kong Crypto License
Speaking at the event’s main forum, McCracken explained the importance of licensing and financial compliance — something that Alchemy Pay has years of experience with. The Singapore-based payment gateway’s founding team come from traditional institutions such as Paypal, Mastercard, HSBC, and DBS and already hold multiple crypto exchange licenses in Europe and Asia, as well as being deep in the license application process in the UK and USA.
Alchemy Pay, whose solutions also include an NFT checkout and a merchant crypto payment acceptance network, has recently obtained four brokerage and financial licences in Hong Kong via a strategic collaboration with ZD Group. These licenses are issued by Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and Insurance Authority (IA) and will put Alchemy Pay at the front of the queue when it comes to the crypto exchange application that Hong Kong will roll out in June. McCracken also revealed plans for the firm to set up a major entity in Hong Kong.
Alchemy Pay at the Centre of Web3 Festival
As well as presenting at the conference itself, Alchemy Pay’s brought a large team to represent the firm at its booth and also hosted two of the most profile evening events during festival week. Alongside Animoca Brands, Bing Ventures and Spartan Capital, Alchemy Pay co-hosted the Web3 Reimagined cocktail evening at Hong Kong’s dazzling Park Lane Hotel where Robert McCracken participated in a panel discussion. Another highlight was a co-hosted event R3al World: Infra Afterparty alongside long-standing partners IoTeX, NEO, Conflux and Particle Network.
Branding Campaign Across Hong Kong
As well as the events themselves, Alchemy Pay also made a big impact in Hong Kong with a billboard advertising campaign across the state during festival week. The Alchemy Pay and associated ACH token branding was seen by millions as commercials passed by on buses, in the airport and in major landmark sites such as Causeway Bay, Sheung Wan, Mongkok, Tsim Sha Tsui.
